The Ripples & Waves album was recorded live-off-the-floor at Dove Creek Studios over a two-day session in February 2023, with our friend, Jeff Drummond, at the engineering controls.

Connection with our natural surroundings here on Vancouver Island (and beyond) and an ever-deepening sense of family and community have all, undeniably, been sources of inspiration in the process of this music coming forth, coming through us and our instruments.

Music is everywhere. An energy source resonating infinitely throughout both visible and invisible realms, awaiting interaction, exploration, discovery and re-discovery.

Our creative process is fuelled by a spirit of continuous exploration that drives creative collaboration. This is realized through rhythmic improvisation and spontaneous composition. We thrive off the sense of connection and energy of being fully ‘in the moment’, which is tangible throughout the recordings.

Some of the song structures slowly took shape on the stages of live festivals, intimate performance venues, and living room jams, whereas other songs had always seemed to strongly reject any sort of structure, and so we went with that in the studio.

Our heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters - past/present/future – you are a vibrant part of this Ultraviolet realm, and we are so grateful!

Cool fact:
Locally-sourced (Vancouver Island, BC) driftwood sticks, were used exclusively in Beau’s performance on this album, except Tree Top Canopy where he employed small hollow aluminum sticks used in clay sculpting. Beau’s interest in drum kit sound exploration is aided by the driftwood sticks due to their large and varied hitting surfaces, natural wood feel, and light weight from being weathered by the ocean. To emphasize drum and rim tones and avoid traditional drum kit performances’ use of the snare drum, the snares were turned off for all but one piece on this album - Nectar.
